I’m Jill Slagter, a Boulder, Colorado family photographer specializing in lifestyle family, motherhood, and maternity photography. I create natural, connection-focused images for families who care more about how a moment felt than how it looked.

I’m a mother and a lover, always down for a hike and an adventure, and someone who believes the most meaningful photos happen when people are allowed to be themselves. My work is rooted in storytelling, presence, and slowing down enough to notice the small, honest moments that make up everyday life.

I moved to Louisville, Colorado in 2022 with my husband and two boys.. The mountains have won me over, but I might still listen to Joni Mitchell in the car and cry about California sometimes.

My photography journey started back in high school, over 20 years ago, when I took control of my dad’s old Pentax K1000. I quickly fell in love with, and in, darkrooms. In the last decade, digital photography won me over as well. Photography keeps me sane. It helps me pull away from a cynical attitude and see the beauty and the truth in people and the world around me. It helps me slow down and pay attention to the details in our day to day lives. It lets me live out fantasies and imagine the inconceivable. It’s my meditation.

I’m based in Louisville, Colorado and serve Denver, Boulder, and the surrounding areas. But don’t hesitate to talk me into any beautiful location.
